Jungle Japes is the first world found in Donkey Kong 64. Donkey Kong is the only character who can unlock the level as he is the only character at the time that the player can use. It will require one Golden Banana to open the level but the player should of collected the Golden Banana at the entrance to the area.
Jungle Japes will teach the player many things about the game and get the player settled into the game with collecting bananas, blueprints, coins.

Jungle Japes is a small world as it is the first level. It takes place in a Jungle. It can be accessed on DK Isle, close to the Banana Ports.
Both Diddy Kong and Donkey Kong can learn a move from Cranky Kong in this level. As well the Battle Pad is located outside of Funky's Armory.
[edit] Cranky's Lab
Cranky's Lab can be found after unlocking Diddy Kong. Once all the Coconut switches have been shot and the Golden Banana has been collected by Donkey Kong. The doors will open. Following the path to a rainy area, Cranky's Lab can be seen. As well Rambi can be found in this are and switches for each Kong. The 4th Banana Port is also in front of the lab.
[edit] Funky's Armory
Funky Kong's Armory is located on the way to Diddy Kong's cage. In front of the Armory is the Battle Pad. Inside Funky's Armory you can get the weapons for the Kongs.
[edit] Rambi
Jungle Japes will introduce you to the first animal buddy Rambi. Donkey Kong is the only character who can use Rambi. Rambi is used for smashing the huts containing character pads and smashing a wall with Rambi's face on it.
[edit] Unlockable Character
You can find one Kong in this level that needs to be rescued. Diddy Kong is located near the top of the mountain in a prison. To unlock him, Donkey Kong will need to get his Coconut Gun from Funky Kong, and shoot the Coconut switches. Donkey Kong will get a Golden Banana for unlocking Diddy Kong.

The boss for Jungle Japes is Army Dillo. This boss contains to big guns on the sides of its shell. Donkey Kong is required to face this boss. To beat the boss, just shoot the TNT barrel at Army Dillo when he comes out of his shell three times.

In both Super Smash Brothers Melee and Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Jungle Japes is set on a river that has three ledges made from wood, which the fighters fight on. It has one large platform in the middle, with a small one above it. There is two smaller platforms on opposite sides of the large one. The water below is fast and can be dangerous to jump into as it will rush the fighter quickly to the left. Klaptraps occasionally jump out of the water and will KO a fighter if it hits. The music in the main level music in Donkey Kong Country.
Cranky Kong can also be seen in the cabin in the background on the big platform.
